DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for managing company-wide and project-level accounting.
Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Review and process timesheets in compliance with auditing standards.
- Administer payroll through Gusto, ensure subsequent journal entries and reporting are accurate and compliant with FAR/WSDOT requirements.
- Administer IRA contributions.
- Issue monthly reports, including billability tracking and labor reconciliation.
Finance and Accounting
- Responsible for all accounting operational functions for a $3M+ company
- Manage accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, bank account reconciliations, cash flow, and monthly/quarterly taxes
- Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers
- Manage financial reporting including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as well as project reports
- Manage bill rate calculations
- Provide financial planning and strategy
- Work with external CPA and internal bookkeeper
- Develop fundamental understanding of OH and allowable/unallowable costs and the impacts, and maintain monthly ICR monitoring and schedule reconciliation
- Conduct analysis and interpretation of accounting information, provide executive team with information vital to decision-making, profitability, and other matters related to the company’s financial performance
- Conduct ongoing assessment of accounting operations and internal controls, provide recommendations to improve and implement new processes for efficiency and streamlining
- Provide teams with guidelines and feedback to ensure compliance throughout the company
Project-based Invoicing and Performance
- Understand contract-level invoicing requirements
- Prepare monthly invoices on 65+ projects including project budget and billing terms management
- Provide project management support and reporting for project managers and teams
- Provide reporting tools including close to real-time tracking of project status, performance, and workload planning
- Manage project bill rates, including annual increases
- Manage and review of project contracts, amendments, and consultant sub agreements
- Issue monthly reports to project teams
Risk and Compliance
- Understand contract requirements and adherence from project set up through close
- Provide risk management insights to executives
- Support project managers and teams with contract compliance and provide risk management insights
System Improvements and Special Projects
- Provide cost effective and efficient solutions to support company’s growth.
- Work with company executives and directors to cost and implement new initiatives and products
- Lead and collaborate with teams to implement ongoing system improvements
REQUIRED:
- At least three years of experience in an accounting manager or controller position
- Degree in Accounting or Finance or similar field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and QuickBooks online
- Experience in professional services business model
- Commitment to inclusive communications practices
- Strong verbal and written communications
DESIRED:
- Experience with Federal Accounting Requirements (FAR) and WSDOT Indirect Cost Rate requirements
- Experience with Gusto, Bill.com, Expensify, MS Teams and Harvest platforms
POSITION DETAILS:

- Starting at $80,000 annual salary and commensurate with experience in similar positions within the region, plus profit sharing.
