Lessons learned from agency life

There is nothing quite like working at a fast-growing marketing and communications agency.  Especially when the agency serves a variety of market segments such as health, transportation, retail, consumer, government, public policy, education, and more 

Project support is varied and can include everything from gathering metrics for digital marketing campaigns to conducting door-to-door outreach for city construction projects.

What’s gonna work? Teamwork!

You can’t do it alone. It is all about teamwork and collaboration to encourage creativity and grow. Everyone has a different idea and perspective to bring to a project. Incorporating all of those together leads to the best final product.  

No two days are ever the same

Working on multiple projects simultaneously is the norm. One moment could consist of email campaign content development, while the next could require helping with the casting for a commercial. TVA’s work is broad and the team is prepared to be nimble. 

Flexibility is key 

Things are ever-changing in an agency. Sometimes the original plan doesn’t work and require a mid-project pivot. You must be flexible and enjoy the ability to jump from project to project, or idea to idea without missing a beat.  

It’s okay to challenge the norm

Whether working to develop an innovate campaign or an inclusive and equitable outreach strategy, you’ve got to be willing to speak up and share ideas. It’s okay to challenge the status quo with ideas that lead to better work. Clients don’t hire us to do work that’s been done before, they hire us to bring in fresh new ideas and concepts. 


Things can get crazy, calm is key. Don’t forget to take time to center yourself as it allows you to bring your best self to the office every day.
