Today, we are very excited to introduce our new Research Intern, Gabby! Gabby is currently finishing up her senior year at the University of Washington, studying Communications and American Ethnic Studies. She is an avid traveler, foodie, and loves learning new things. While working with TVA, Gabby is assisting our research department, while also learning about digital, communications, and outreach. We are thrilled to have Gabby on our team, welcome!

What interested you in applying to The Vida Agency?

The mission and values of TVA resonated with what I study – American ethnics studies – working with an uplifting the community communications

I loved the idea of working on projects that would impact and uplift those from marginalized communities

If you could time travel to any point in history, where and when would you go?

To witness the 1920s devastation, but also the growth of major wealth. To also see the wars in Vietnam, I would like to see the way my family lived.

Would you rather spend your day on the top of a mountain or on a sandy beach?

Sandy beach – I am a plant; I need sun and water – plus ocean waves are peaceful.

What are a few destinations on your travel bucket list and what makes those places so interesting to you?

Asia – I would love to see home, the Philippines and Vietnam.

What decade do you think had the best fashion?

The 90s, DUH – We still dress that way and its very relatable. Also, the 70s – glitz and glamour and major makeup looks.

Tell us about your pets! (if no pets, what kind of pet would you want?)

I have two kitties: Mr. Barrington, who is a Tabby, and Polly, who is a Calico!

What four people, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party if you knew they’d attend?  And why?

Ali Wong – She is a hugely successful role model and representation for Asian-American women. I don’t really remember having one until I found her.

Ava DuVernay – I would love to meet this beautiful creative soul and pick her brain on what drives and inspires her. She is revolutionary.

Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez – A bad ass. Want to get advice from her on how she stays motivated and centered especially in the world she works in.

Rihanna – she’s mysterious, yet a mogul all at the same time. I want to know what fuels her success, how she stays grounded, and reminds herself that she IS Rihanna.

All these women are badasses who really defy and disrupt respectability politics and show how women run the world.
