Today, we are thrilled to introduce you to Janine! Janine is our Director of Strategic Communications and Media Relations. She is originally from the east coast, born in New York city and when she was a baby moved to a farm in rural New England (she may or may not refer to it as the middle of nowhere).
Growing up the youngest of 3, with two older brothers, Janine was always busy. A range of outdoor activities, team sports, and travel were some main childhood highlights. With family from France and Bermuda she was lucky to get the chance to explore different corners of the globe. These travels to visit family planted a seed. As she grew older, she became determined to find a vocation that would enable her to see more of the world. She did just that post-college by becoming a river rafting guide in Utah, followed by a biking and hiking tour guide in France, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
‘Janine has now raised two boys, lives in Woodinville with her husband and their blended family, and could probably outrun us all for fun. Read on to get to know Janine!
What things do you look forward to each day?
Kick-starting the day with a run with my dog Ripley at dawn – I run to rejuvenate and reboot, I don’t track every mile or monitor my pace, it just sets my days off right. It is peaceful me-time, so early I barely see a soul. The beauty is remarkable, and the days simply flow better following a good run.
In ONLY one sentence, how would you sum up the internet?
A winding, never-ending rabbit hole of incessant information.
What is your all-time favorite book or movie and why?
It’s a series of books, there is no way I could pick just one as I am on average reading 5 at any given time. My latest favorites are Educated, Between Two Kingdoms, The Glass Castle, and Goldfinch, and for movies The Beatles: Get Back documentary.
What is your favorite thing about your career and why?
That’s easy! Shining a light on inspiring products, services, and good work. I am so fortunate to get the chance to collaborate with numerous teams in a broad range of industries, then help tell their brand stories. It is new and different every day.
If you could be any person for a day, who would you be?
My grandmother, hands down. She has had the greatest impact on me. Another full day of teachings from her would be an enormous gift. Here she is with her friend – the Dalai Lama!
